Over 1,000 LGUs pass DILG's financial housekeeping assessment

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año on Thursday urged local government units to continue financial transparency as he praised over 1,000 localities that passed the financial housekeeping assessment of the agency.

In a press statement, Año said a total of 1,522 local government units had passed the 2019 good financial housekeeping (GFH) nationwide assessment of the DILG.

"These passers composed 89% of the total number of LGUs. Malaking bahagdan ang pumasa sa GFH na nagpapakita lamang ng mas maayos na financial management sa mga pamahalaang lokal," Año said.

"Continue the good work towards financial transparency that the people who voted for you rightfully deserve," he added.

Año said GFH assessment involves stern requirements from the Commission on Audit. He added that the GFH is also one of the criteria in awarding the Seal of Good Local Governance to any LGU.

The DILG chief said Region XI was on top of the list of those who had passed, with all of its five provinces, six cities and 43 municipalities making the cut.

Ratings of other regions are the following:

  • Regions I - 98%
  • Regions IV-A - 97%
  • Regions II, III, X and XII - 96%
  • NCR - 94%
  • Region IX - 92%
  • Region XI and VIII - 91%
  • Region XIII - 90%
  • MIMAROPA - 85%
  • CAR - 82 %
  • Regions V - 81%
  • Region VII - 73%
  • BARMM - 69%

Meanwhile, Año encouraged those who had failed to pass the 2019 GFH to be better and ensure that in they will be included in the next list.

“This will only make your service and fiscal management better. Learn, grow and come back stronger,” he said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
