Mayor Sara Duterte discontinues COVID-19 self-quarantine

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Friday discontinued her voluntary isolation over her possible exposure to a COVID-19 case, as recommended by Davao City Health Officer Dr. Josephine Villafuerte.

In a statement, the Davao City mayor's office explained that Villafuerte made the recommendation after it was discovered that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian—who Duterte-Carpio met over lunch in Manila last Tuesday—did not have physical contact with the resource person at a Senate hearing who tested positive for COVID-19.

Furthermore, Duterte-Carpio's household employee who was not feeling well was diagnosed with tonsillitis and was recovering.

“Because of these, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has been given clearance by the Davao City Health Officer, Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, to discontinue her voluntary isolation,” said the mayor's office.

Mayor Duterte was in the Senate last Tuesday for the confirmation of her appointment as an Army Reserve Colonel.
