PAL cancels local flights to and from Manila starting March 15 through 21


Flag carrier Philippine Airlines is cancelling domestic flights to and from Manila from March 15 to March 21, 2020 in compliance with the government restriction on land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel in the metropolis to control the spread of COVID-19.

But for Manila domestic flights for the period beyond March 21 up to April 14, PAL said it will announce their status "based on day-to-day assessment of government authorities on the COVID-19 community quarantine situation."

In an advisory, PAL also said it has already upgraded certain flights between Manila and Cebu for March 13 and 14 as well as between Manila and Davao, to help accommodate any surge in passenger flight needs.

PAL is also operating extra flights for March 14, Saturday, on the following sectors, to help support the needs of the traveling public:

  • PR 4139 Manila - Tagbilaran
  • PR 4140 Tagbilaran - Manila
  • PR 4133 Manila - Tacloban
  • PR 4134 Tacloban - Manila
  • PR 5039 Manila - Iloilo
  • PR 5040 Iloilo - Manila
  • PR 5035 Manila - Zamboanga
  • PR 5036 Zamboanga - Manila
  • PR 5033 Manila - Bacolod
  • PR 5034 Bacolod - Manila

Domestic flights have been maintained between other points in the Philippines and our other domestic hubs, including Cebu.

International flights to and from Manila, as well as international flights to and from other Philippine hubs, including, Cebu, are also maintained.

PAL has maintained previously announced flight suspensions on routes to and from mainland China, Hong Kong, Doha and Macau, as well as flight reductions to Taipei and South Korea.

The flag carrier is also compelled to cancel the following services to and from Dammam and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from March 15 to March 21, due to travel restrictions imposed by local authorities:

  • PR682 Manila – Dammam
  • PR683 Dammam – Manila
  • PR654 Manila – Riyadh
  • PR655 Riyadh – Manila

PAL has waived fees for passengers who wish to rebook or refund their flights to and from Metro Manila, but gave them options to rebook, refund or reroute their tickets.

Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended beginning March 15, 2020 and ending April 14, 2020, subject to the daily review of the Inter-Agency Task Force, President Rodrigo Duterte said in a televised address on Thursday night. —Jamil Santos/LBG, GMA News
