PCG imposes ‘No Sail Policy’ in entire Luzon for passenger vessels, private yachts

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday announced the implementation of “No Sail Policy” in the entire Luzon following the enhanced community quarantine being observed in the area.

In an advisory, PCG chief Admiral Joel Garcia said this would cover domestic passenger vessels, motorized passenger boats, private watercrafts, and pleasure yachts from any seaport in Luzon, including Batanes, Catanduanes, and Palawan.

Garcia said only cargo, fishing, and government vessels are allowed to sail to deliver goods and basic supplies.

“Crew of cargo vessels shall be allowed to disembark for the purpose of ships operations not beyond 50 meters from their ship, in reference with the guidelines issued by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA),” the PCG said.

“Notice to ship operators shall be issued today,” it added.

According to Garcia, the directive will be effective until April 14.—AOL, GMA News
