Bongbong says he's under home quarantine, waiting for COVID-19 test results

Former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Thursday refuted claims circulating online that he is currently confined in a hospital.

"I am deeply touched and overwhelmed by your concern over my condition. Don’t worry, I am doing ok and contrary to popular belief, I am home on self-quarantine," Marcos said in a statement.

"As my sister said, a few days ago I was feeling a little under the weather and as a result went to get checked. We are still waiting for the results," he added.

A photo of Marcos holding a newspaper while sitting on his bed was attached to the statement.

It was not clear yet if the test was administered by the Department of Health's Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

Marcos, son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, thanked the doctors and nurses who attended to his needs and said he is "getting stronger by the day."

Earlier on Thursday, Marcos' sister, incumbent Senator Imee Marcos, said her brother underwent test for COVID-19 because he was feeling unwell after arriving from Spain. She said results are still pending. --KBK, GMA News
