Comelec extends suspension of voter registration

The Commission on Elections on Friday rescheduled the lifting of the nationwide suspension of voter registration amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine arising from the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

In a statement, the Comelec said the lifting of the suspension is moved from March 31 to April 30.

"As the entire nation battles this crisis, the public is advised to take all the necessary precautions against infection and transmission," it said.

According to the poll body, the suspension will cover voter registration in all its offices as well as satellite registration activities.

It added that the issuance of voter certification in both the main and field offices will also be suspended until further notice. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
