Pia Cayetano's consultant, Bong Revilla's staff test positive for COVID-19

Two more individuals working at the Senate have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Senate Secretary Myra Marie Villarica on Friday.

One was Senator Pia Cayetano's female consultant who last came to work on March 11.

She was not required to report to the office daily and was neither present in the plenary hall during the last session day nor during the special session on March 23.

On Thursday, another female staff member of Cayetano was also found to have been infected.

One male member of the staff of Senator Bong Revilla also tested positive for COVID-19.

"The staff member has been confined at a hospital in Imus, Cavite since March 22, 2020 due to an initial diagnosis of pneumonia," Villarica said.

The patient had no travel history and no known contact with other infected individuals.

He last reported for work on March 9 but went back to the Senate on March 16 to claim his salary.

Contact tracing is ongoing, according to Villarica.

Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel, and Sonny Angara also tested positive for the virus. -NB, GMA News
