DOLE urges workers to directly submit list if employers don’t want to avail of financial assistance program

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Tuesday workers can directly submit to the government the list of co-workers affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine if their employers are reluctant to avail of the P5,000 financial assistance program.

“Ang gagawin namin diyan, we advise the worker na sabihan ang kasamahan nilang worker na mag-submit sa amin at ipadala namin sa kanila ang pera nila through Palawan, MLhuiller,” Bello said during the Laging Handa televised briefing.

He said the Department of Labor and Employment will directly disburse the P5,000 financial assistance to workers through money transfer companies.

“Ipapadala namin yung sweldo sa Palawan, MLhuillier... hindi na namin ipapadaan sa employer,” the Labor chief said.

Requirements to be submitted to the respective DOLE regional offices to avail of the financial assistance include company payroll or list of workers affected for the month prior to the implementation of flexible work arrangement or temporary closure of the business establishment.

Meanwhile, for employers who have submitted their respective payrolls, Bello said the P5,000 financial assistance will be released within 48 hours upon receipt of the list.

“Ang mahalaga give us your payroll as soon as possible time. Formal workers ito, ‘yung mga empleyado,” he said.
