Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano has tested positive for COVID-19.
"On March 27, I got tested. Today, March 31, I received the result from RITM informing me that I am positive for COVID-19," he announced on Tuesday.
"I make this announcement to call the attention of all persons I had close contact with to go on self-quarantine and observe any symptoms, in accordance with DOH guidelines," he added.
Año is the vice chairman of the national action plan meant to reinforce efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.
In a separate interview on dzBB, the DILG chief said he would be on home quarantine, but would still continue working.
"Okay naman ako, I feel normal," he said.
He said he last went to Malacanang on March 23 for a meeting. He said President Rodrigo Duterte was not there, but several Cabinet officials were present.
"Kaya ako nagbigay ng statement para magbantay sila, tingnan nila kung mayroon silang symptoms," he said.
On Monday, March 30, he appeared on the Laging Handa network briefing and discussed updates on the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.
He also said that the government is identifying isolation facilities that would cater to the needs of those individuals considered as persons under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) for COVID-19.—JST/LDF, GMA News
