Koko's wife grateful for second life after emergency C-section delivery

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel's wife Kathryna on Thursday introduced their newborn baby girl on Facebook as she expressed how thankful she was for the second life she received after giving birth.

"I am grateful for my second life... Me and Baby Helena survived a miracle emergency C-section delivery last March 29, 2020 (8pm)... Up to now I still can't believe that me and my miracle baby are alive," Kathryna wrote on her official Facebook page.

"Thank you to all of those who helped us, sacrificed and risked themselves just to save my life and baby Helena... I will be forever grateful to all of you... To the hospital and doctors who really took care of us with open arms.... maraming salamat po," she added.

Kathryna also thanked the people who helped them and prayed for them in what she called a "life and death crisis."

There was no mention of the specific hospital where the senator's wife gave birth.

Pimentel has been under fire since last week after he accompanied his then pregnant wife to Makati Medical Center on March 24 despite his pending test results for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). He said he immediately left the health facility on the same date upon receiving a confirmation that he was infected with the virus.

The "reckless" action was condemned by the hospital management and Pimentel apologized for the incident.

Kathryna's scheduled delivery of the baby via cesarean section on March 25 has been postponed because she had to undergo COVID-19 test too.
