7 COVID-19 centers in NCR, Pampanga, Tarlac ready to accept patients

Seven government venues in Metro Manila, Pampanga and Tarlac converted into quarantine facilities are ready to accept coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, according to a 24 Oras Weekend report on Sunday.

A total of 1,500 beds have already been set up at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, the Rizal Memorial Stadium, the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, the Philippine International Convention Center, and the World Trade Center in Metro Manila; the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark, Pampanga; and the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City, Tarlac.

Six of the seven venues were completed in just one week with the help of the national government and the support of various private companies.

The seven quarantine facilities will house COVID-19 patients who are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

Earlier, the Philippine Navy announced the presidential yacht BRP Ang Pangulo (ACS-15) is now ready to accommodate COVID-19 patients on board.

The national government has been converting several government facilities into quarantine facilities to relieve the burden on hospitals overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases.

As of Sunday, the Philippines has recorded a total of 4,648 cases of COVID-19, including 297 deaths and 197 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
