Cecile Guidote-Alvarez discharged from hospital after battle vs COVID-19

Cecile Guidote-Alvarez has been discharged from the hospital after battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Her daughter, Atty. Xilca Alvarez-Protacio, shared the development in a report on "24 Oras" on Monday.

The founder of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) was reported to be in critical condition along with her husband former senator Heherson Alvarez.

According to the Department of Agrarian Reform, which Alvarez previously headed, the couple were intubated in a Manila hospital.

Alvarez-Protacio said in a statement on April 6 that her mom was already extubated and breathing comfortably while her dad was in the intensive care unit.

Reports said the former lawmaker was scheduled to undergo plasma therapy but he died of COVID-19 on Monday.

PDP-Laban executive director Ron Munsayac confirmed the passing of Alvarez, a party stalwart who also formerly served as a congressman.
