Philippines' COVID-19 death toll exceeds 700; cases at 10,610


The death toll due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country surpassed the 700 mark on Saturday after the Department of Health (DOH) reported eight fatalities, bringing the total to 704.

According to the DOH, the nationwide tally of cases climbed to 10,610 with 147 new infections.

Of the new cases, 123 patients or 84 percent are from the National Capital Region while 24 patients or 16 percent are from other areas.

Meanwhile, 108 more patients have recovered from the illness, further widening the lead over the number of deaths and bringing the total to 1,842.
