Duterte remembers mother: She was very good to me

President Rodrigo Duterte remembered his mother Soledad during a public address and meeting with Cabinet members on the situation of the country in relation to the coronavirus disease 2019  (COVID-19).

Duterte recollected memories of his mother saying that she was a very good mother to him. He also attributed his becoming the country's top leader to her.

“I remember my mother Soledad. Well, she was a very good mother to me. Look what happened: Naging Presidente tuloy ako. Nawala ‘yung disiplina sa akin. My God, kung paluhurin ako nun sa altar,” he said in a meeting held Monday night but aired Tuesday morning.

Duterte added his late mother might be smiling and in state of wonder looking to his late father Vicente saying: “Anong nagawa natin sa anak natin itong g*gong  itong Rodrigo. Bakit…”

Soledad led the yellow movement in Davao during the Martial Law period. She also fought for the rights of the indigenous peoples, a cause that her son Rodrigo also took up when he became mayor.—AOL, GMA News
