Philippines' COVID-19 cases exceed 12,000; death toll over 800 with 123 new recoveries

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines surpassed 12,000 on Friday with 215 new infections, bringing the total to 12,091.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), 16 more fatalities brought the death toll to 806.

Meanwhile, total recoveries increased to 2,460 after 123 more patients recovered from virus.

Of the new cases, 144 or 67% came from the National Capital Region, 69 or 32% came from other areas, and two patients or 1% came from Region 7.

At present, there are 30 licensed laboratories for COVID-19 testing, while 79 laboratories are Stage 3 and above. -MDM, GMA News
