‘Philippines, Province of China’ location tag infuriates Hontiveros
Senator Risa Hontiveros took to Twitter on Saturday to express her irritation after a Facebook location tag allegedly described the Philippines as a “Province of China.”
“Sabi ng ilan, joke lang naman daw itong Philippines, Province of China sa social media. Pero nakagagalit pakinggan,” said Hontiveros in her post.
“Katunog siya ng mga mangingisda nating tinataboy mula sa sarili nating mga karagatan. Katunog siya ng propaganda ng Wow China na ini-ere sa sarili nating radio station. Katunog din siya ng mga isla nating unti-unti nilang sinasakop.”
She concluded that the Philippines was not a province of China: “Never were & never will be!”
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. said that the public was giving the matter a significance it did not deserve.
You're giving it importance. Chinese are too smart to believe that crap; any of them tries coming over without a visa from me and he'll be detained and sent back where he came from at his own expense. At the rate you're all going they will have 110 million check-ins. https://t.co/S3NzaVWMa4

As for Senate President Tito Sotto, he called the location tag “the handiwork of some stupid people trying to intimidate our international relationships.” — DVM, GMA News
