The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported that the number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,452.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said 1,228 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory disease, while the death toll has remained at 31 since May 10.

The other 1,193 medical professionals are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 918 are mild cases, 273 are asymptomatic, while two are in severe condition.

Despite the decreasing number of health workers testing positive for COVID-19, they still account for 17 percent of the total cases nationwide.

The Philippines has logged 15,588 cases with 3,598 recoveries and 921 deaths as of Thursday afternoon. -MDM, GMA News
