Duterte to meet with IATF members in Davao City this week

President Rodrigo Duterte will meet with some Cabinet officials focused on the country’s COVID-19 response  in Davao City on Thursday, Malacañang said.

Apart from a meeting with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases, Duterte will also address the nation on the same day, his spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing on Monday.

Duterte flew to his hometown over the weekend.

“Ngayong siya po ay nasa Mindanao, hindi lang naman po siya nag-reunion, tinitignan din po niya kung ano nangyari diyan sa Mindanao,” Roque said.

“In fact, magkakaroon siya ng official functions sa Davao, kasama na po ang pag-uulat sa bayan at ang pagmi-meeting niya sa ilang mga miyembro ng IATF. Pupunta po ang ilang miyembro ng IATF sa Davao para doon sa address at pagpupulong.”

On May 16, Duterte traveled to Davao to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Mindanao and spend time with his family after being away for more than two months.

His trip coincided with the onslaught of Typhoon Ambo in several provinces in Luzon and Visayas. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
