Health workers with COVID-19 now 2,703; recoveries up to 1,465


The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported that the number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,703.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,465 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll has remained at 32 since May 29.

The other 1,206 medical workers are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 1,003 are mild cases, 202 are asymptomatic, while one is in severe condition.

Despite the decreasing number of health workers testing positive for COVID-19, medical professionals still account for 14 percent of the total cases nationwide.

The Philippines has logged 20,382 cases with 4,248 recoveries and 984 deaths as of Thursday afternoon. -- BAP, GMA News
