PSG to maintain anti-COVID-19 measures in Malacañang despite GCQ

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) said Wednesday it would maintain all precautionary measures being implemented at the Malacañang Complex despite the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the country.

These safety measures include mandatory rapid antibody detection testing, disinfection of engagement areas and the “no invitation, no entry" policy.”

Events that may be attended by President Rodrigo Duterte will be restricted to small group private meetings and that engagements that require large crowds will be discouraged.

“[The] PSG will never let its guard down. It shall remain on high-alert status until the environment is safe for the President,” PSG commander Colonel Jesus Durante III said.

“Rest assured that your PSG troopers will continue to serve the Filipino nation by providing the utmost protection for the President not only during this COVID-19 crisis but at all times.”

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases was scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss whether to further ease restrictions or reimpose lifted quarantine measures starting June 16.

The IATF will then present its recommendation to Duterte, who will make the final decision. -NB, GMA News
