Number of coronavirus-infected PNP personnel climbs to 440
The Philippine National Police has so far recorded a total of 440 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among its personnel.
Latest data from the PNP show that of the total number of infected personnel, 258 have already recovered from the disease while the number of deaths is at seven. The latest fatalities were from Cebu City.
Also, the police organization has listed 699 probable COVID-19 cases and 874 suspected cases.
To complement the PNP's initial initiatives in controlling the spread of COVID-19, the police launched its RT/PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) facility, which is operated by seven personnel from the PNP Crime Laboratory and six others from the PNP Health Service.
Isolation facilities are also located inside Camp Crame for personnel who need to undergo self quarantine. Other police regional officers were also encouraged to have their own quarantine sites for infected cops or those who have flu-like symptoms. —LBG, GMA News
