PNP warns public about cockfighting, vows to punish rogue cops

The Philippine National Police on Sunday warned the public about engaging in illegal cockfighting amid community quarantine measures and vowed to penalize cops who are involved in such activities.

PNP spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac made the remark after an alleged retired general and police personnel were arrested during a raid in Batangas City on Saturday.

On Saturday, the National Bureau of Investigation conducted a raid against illegal cockfighting activity in a subdivision in Batangas City.

Initial police information indicated that around 50 individuals were found in the cockfighting event in the area but the authorities managed to arrest only around 25 people, including the retired general and a cop. —LBG, GMA News
