Facilities designated for LSIs almost full –military

Facilities designated by the Philippine Army to temporarily house locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are almost at full capacity,Philippine Army spokesperson Colonel Ramon Zagala said Sunday.

According to a report on “24 Oras Weekend,” the Philippine Army Gym and the Libingan ng mga Bayani were some of the facilities designated to accommodate LSIs awaiting processing.

Some of the LSIs are construction workers or other workers whose trips abroad were delayed by the lockdown imposed over Metro Manila.

Zagala said that although many LSIs have already been sent home to their respective provinces, the number of LSIs arriving at their facilities requesting help continued to grow.

He warned that the continuous arrival of LSIs may cause problems in the enforcement of social distancing inside the facilities.

The Army also assured the public that LSIs sent home to the provinces have tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 through a rapid test. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
