DOH urges honesty in filling out contact tracing forms

As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) surge to over 34,000 cases on Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) urged the public to be honest in filling out contact tracing forms.

"Magbigay tayo ng tamang information lagi kapag nagco-contact tracing. Ngayon po, if we go to public places, pinapag-register po tayo," Dr. Beverly Ho, director for Health Promotion and Communication Service, said in a live briefing.

"Hinihikayat po namin ang lahat na dapat maging honest tayo sa pagsulat ng ating phone number kasi importante po talaga ito para ma-contact trace tayo," she added.

The Philippines on Friday reported a total of 34,073 COVID-19 cases with 9,182 recoveries and 1,224 fatalities.

According to Ho, the regions with the most active cases as of June 25 are the National Capital Region with 9,921 cases; Region VII with 5,902 cases; Region IV-A with 1,092 cases; Region III with 413 cases; and Region VIII with 274 cases.

Meanwhile, there are 1,778 active cases composed of repatriates.

While the NCR still reported the most number of new cases in the last 14 days, Ho said that cases coming from other regions were also increasing.

"Lumalaki na din po ang mga kaso na nanggagaling sa ibang rehiyon. So nakikita natin na tumataas 'yung kaso ng Region VIII dito," she said.

"But overall in total, in the last 14 days, 'yung pinakamataas pa rin po ay NCR, Region VII, IV-A, and our repatriates," she added. —LDF, GMA News
