PNP nets P99.67-M illegal drugs, nabs 51 suspects in a week's sting


Philippine National Police's anti-illegal drugs operations last week yielded nearly P100 million worth of illegal drugs, and resulted in the arrest of 51 drug suspects.

In a report given to media on Sunday, the PNP said the police conducted a total of 25 separate anti-illegal drugs operations across the country last week.

It said that the combined estimated total amount of seized illegal drugs during the operations was at P99.672 million for the 7,606.69 grams of crystal meth, and 239,500 fully-grown marijuana plants seized.

PNP Chief, Police General Archie Gamboa noted that the latest anti-drug offensive by PNP units were undertaken even as most parts of the country are still under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Gamboa said, “The PNP has been consistent in its warning. No let up in the pursuit of criminals. Our recent accomplishments nationwide validate the PNP’s determination to eradicate threats to the public’s safety and security.”

The PNP reported that since June 1, when most parts of the country where placed under GCQ, a total of P 8.432 billion worth of shabu has been confiscated by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group along with local police units and PDEA. (PNP-PIO) —LBG, GMA News
