Cebu City logs 131 new COVID-19 cases, 157 new recoveries


Cebu City on Sunday announced that 157 more patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), higher than the 131 new cases recorded on the same day.

The Cebu City Health Department (CHD) said total recoveries rose to 2,596 while the total tally of infections was now at 4,962.

Meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 156 with six new fatalities.

The CHD said there are also 2,210 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Cebu City still has the highest number of infections nationwide, followed by Quezon City with 3,255 cases as of Sunday.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier announced that Health Secretary Francisco Duque III ordered the temporary deployment of Doctors to the Barrios to Cebu City to help cope with the city’s heavy patient load.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines also deployed a 32-man medical team to Cebu City to aid in COVID-19 response.  — DVM, GMA News
