4 LGUs appealed their quarantine status before IATF — Palace

Four local government units have appealed their possible quarantine status starting in July ahead of President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement on the matter on Tuesday night.

Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque said the provinces of Cebu, Bulacan and Cagayan and another locality submitted appeals before the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the country’s policy-making body on COVID-19 response.

Roque said three areas pushed for stricter movement restrictions while one area called for easing of COVID-19 measures.

He added the appeals were resolved on Monday so that the IATF could make a final recommendation to the President.

“Siya po ang magdedesisyon at ang balita ay mismong sa kaniya manggagaling, kaya huwag na po tayong maniwala sa mga fake news,” Roque said in a televised briefing.

“Napatunayan na po natin sa mga nakalipas na nagbabago po talaga ang desisyon ng Presidente pagdating sa klasipikasyon.”

At present, only Cebu City is under enhanced community quarantine while its neighboring city of Talisay is under modified ECQ. The rest of the country is either under general community quarantine or modified GCQ. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
