MRT3 personnel with COVID-19 now 202, including 16 designated at stations

The total number of Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT3) personnel who tested positive for COVID-19 climbed from 186 to 202 as of Tuesday night, a Department of Transportation (DOTr) official said on Wednesday.

Transportation Assistant Secretary Goddes Libiran said that 16 of them were deployed at stations and 181 at the depot. Three of them were train drivers and two were control center personnel.

The station personnel who tested positive include 15 ticket sellers—eight from North Avenue Station, three from Cubao, two from GMA Kamuning, one from Quezon Avenue, and one on reserve status.

Of the 3,299 MRT personnel, Libiran said only 339 workers are remaining to undergo COVID-19 testing, which is scheduled on Wednesday.

“Three hundred thirty-nine na lang ang for testing ngayong araw. The rest, tapos na,” Libiran said in a message to reporters.

Transportation Undersecretary Timothy John Batan earlier said a total of 1,300 personnel are needed to resume operations at a minimum.

Based on the latest update, at least 2,758 personnel already tested negative for COVID-19.
