Philippine Commission on Women chairperson resigns

Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) chairperson Rhodora Bucoy has tendered her resignation on July 7, the body announced Wednesday amid reports that she was fired.

In a Facebook post, the PCW denied that President Rodrigo Duterte has fired Bucoy, adding that it has yet to receive a notice from the Office of the President on her replacement.

"As of this writing, we have yet to receive any appointment papers of a new Chairperson from the Office of the President," the PCW said.

"However, we would like to inform our stakeholders that Chairperson Bucoy tendered her resignation letter dated July 7, 2020 which is yet to be transmitted to our head agency, the Department of the Interior and Local Government," it added.

The PCW also said that it did not release any media advisory on the resignation of its three commissioners. —LDF, GMA News
