DSWD giving cash assistance, food packs to LSIs —spokesperson


Department of Social Welfare and Development locally stranded individuals

Department of Social Welfare and Development spokesperson Director Irene Dumlao said Saturday the agency is helping locally stranded individuals (LSIs), especially those in Metro Manila and neighboring areas.

At the Laging Handa public forum, Dumlao also said that the DSWD has a P5-million allocation for assistance to LSIs. 

Aside from the cash aid, the agency is also giving out food packs to stranded individuals due to lockdowns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, Dumlao said that the DSWD is helping local governments in profiling LSIs, aside from giving out food and non-food items. 

She said that on Friday the agency provided financial assistance to some 300 LSIs in the Baclaran  area in Parañaque City, and this Saturday they will be attending to the needs of some 400 LSIs in Calamba, Laguna.

As to the sheltering needs of the stranded individuals, Dumlao said the local governments concerned will take care the problem. —LBG, GMA News
