Palace on Jerry Gracio’s resignation from KWF: Let it be

The decision of poet and screenwriter Jerry Gracio to resign from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) was his “prerogative,” Malacañang said Monday.

Gracio, the KWF commissioner for Samar-Leyte languages, took to Twitter on Monday to announce that he could no longer “serve a fascist government, even on a holdover capacity.”

He also said he filed his resignation when Duterte came to power in 2016 and in January this year.

“That’s his prerogative and that’s his opinion. We let it be,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing when told about Gracio’s statement.

Gracio, a writer of ABS-CBN, has been vocal in his criticism of the decision of the House of Representatives' Legislative Franchises Committee to deny the media company the authority to use a free-to-air frequency for another 25 years. — DVM, GMA News
