PNP records 59 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 1,298


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday recorded 59 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among its personnel, bringing the total number to 1,298.

Latest data from the PNP showed that of the new cases, 41 came from the National Capital Region Police Office, six from the Police Regional Office (PRO) VII, three from PRO IV-A, three from the National Headquarters, three from the Highway Patrol Group, two from PRO XI, and one from the Communications and Electronics Service.

Moreover, total recoveries climbed to 529 after eight more patients recovered from the virus, while the death toll within the PNP remained at nine.

There are also 1,387 suspected COVID-19 cases and 640 probable cases within the PNP as of 6 p.m. of July 15.

The PNP urged its employees experiencing symptoms similar to COVID-19 to contact its health service. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
