COVID-19 cases in PNP at 1,796


COVID-19 cases among the ranks of the Philippine National Police is now at 1,796, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said on Saturday.

However, 689 police officers have also recovered from the illness as the police force continued to implement their biosafety measures, including physical distancing and disinfection at their offices, Banac said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

Banac emphasized that COVID-19 cases among their personnel are so far a small percentage of their more than 209,000 policemen and illnesses had not negatively impacted their operations.

As of Friday, the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country surpassed 76,000 with 2,103 new infections —of which 1,029 are “fresh” or newly validated and 1,074 are late, bringing the total to 76,444.  — DVM, GMA News
