Six Cebu City areas placed under lockdown due to COVID-19

Six areas in five Cebu City barangays were placed under a localized lockdown to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, Mayor Edgar Labella announced Saturday.

In his Executive Order No. 85, Labella said the six areas were: Sitio Eyha in Barangay Guadalupe, Balaga Drive to Sitio Cekalco in Barangay Labangon, Tuada Compound in Barangay Tisa, Sitio San Isidro and Abellanosa Compound in Barangay Quiot, and C. Mina Extension in Barangay Mabolo.

Labella said the areas will be on strict lockdown for a period of three to 14 days.

All individuals within the areas will be prohibited from leaving their residences. The use of quarantine passes will also be suspended.

Meanwhile, the city government will provide affected residents with food packs and basic necessities.

During the lockdown period, contact tracing and swabbing will be conducted on all identified first-level contacts and probable and suspected individuals.

Health monitoring of all individuals in the said areas will be conducted by the city health department, he said.

Those found positive for COVID-19 will be extracted from the area and transferred to an appropriate facility, Labella added. — DVM, GMA News
