Duterte on injecting COVID-19 vaccine to enemies: Bayoneta ang gamitin

President Rodrigo Duterte quipped that the military should use a bayonet to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to his enemies.

Duterte issued the remark on Thursday in Malacañang after he tasked the military to handle the immunization program once the vaccine becomes available.

“Military ang tutusok sa iyo. Iyong mga kalaban ko, sabihin ko sa military, ‘Do not use the needle. Bayoneta ang gamitin mo,’” the President said in his address aired on state-run PTV on Friday.

The President also said drug pushers will not be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said that at least 20 million Filipinos will be provided with COVID-19 vaccine for free, adding three pharmaceutical companies from China, one from Great Britain, and one from the US were already in their advanced stage of development.

Dominguez said the vaccines will be purchased through Philippine International Trading Corporation under the Department of Trade and Industry which will turn over the vaccine to the Department of Health. —KBK, GMA News
