Sotto: DBM submits 2021 budget documents to Senate

Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Wednesday the Department of Budget and Management has already submitted the documents for the proposed 2021 national budget to the Senate.

"Kasasubmit pa lang sa akin ni Secretary (Wendel) Avisado 'yung budget ni Presidente. Kaaabot lang sa akin kahapon... Andoon tambak-tambak ang libro ng budget para sa 2021," Sotto said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

The Senate leader said he already ordered that all senators be furnished with copies.

"In a matter of days, mga one or two weeks, makikita na natin ang takbo nitong National Expenditure Program para 'ika nga kung may sobra, may mga taba, puwedeng tagpasin," he added.

According to the DBM, President Rodrigo Duterte approved P4.5 trillion for the proposed national budget for 2021.

Senate finance committee chairperson Sonny Angara said a "radically different" 2021 budget, in terms of priorities, may be expected due to the COVID-19 situation.—AOL, GMA News
