BOC seizes P15.7M worth of smuggled and fake cigarettes in Bulacan


Some P15.7 million worth of smuggled and fake cigarettes have been confiscated by the Bureau of Customs in a warehouse in Bocaue, Bulacan.

In a press statement Friday, the BOC said the enforcement and security service quick reaction team (ESS-QRT) and Bocaue police raided the warehouse on August 25 and discovered  246 master cases of suspected smuggled and counterfeit cigarettes.

Customs said the seized cigarettes were identified to have brands such as Marlboro, Astro, D&B, Two Moon, and Union.

The apprehended goods are currently undergoing further investigation and inventory.

“The bureau remains committed to its mandate to secure the country's borders as it strengthens efforts to protect the public from fake and smuggled goods,” Customs said in the statement.—AOL, GMA News
