Next PhilHealth chief a ‘silent worker,’ says Bong Go

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go on Monday dropped some clues on who would be named the next PhilHealth chief.

"Silent worker po ang taong ito. Marunong mag-account at may karanasan sa pag-imbestiga," Go, chair of the Senate committee on health, said in a statement.

"Inaasahan nating ipapamalas niya ang kanyang political will para tuluyang linisin ang ahensya, itigil ang corruption, at panagutin ang mga may sala," he added.

President Rodrigo Duterte would be announcing his new appointee within the day, according to Go.

In a separate interview with Daily Tribune, Go hinted that the new appointee has just retired from another post in the government.

"Kakaretire lang po niya sa government service," he said without elaborating.

The yet to be named PhilHealth chief would be tasked to regain the public's trust and confidence in the state health insurer and to ensure the proper use of its funds, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Sinisigurado po ng Pangulo na naka-linya sa anti-corruption campaign ng administrasyon ang kanyang bagong ia-appoint — with zero tolerance against corrupt practices," Go said.
