Duterte believes there’s no need for RevGov, Palace insists

President Rodrigo Duterte has not changed his position that there is no need to set up a revolutionary government during his term, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque made the clarification after the President said on Monday that the proposal for a revolutionary government should be discussed publicly and the military should be part of the discussions.

Roque added the President did not issue the statement to check the sentiments of the police and the military.

“Talaga namang sa mula’t mula po, ang Presidente ay naniniwala sa malayang pananalita dahil po kapag mayroong malayang pananalita, nagkakaroon ng diskurso,” the Palace official said.

In his address last week, Duterte denied any hand on the recent call of his supporters for a revolutionary government. The Palace also said the government was focused on addressing COVID-19 and mitigating its socioeconomic impact. — DVM, GMA News
