1-PACMAN Rep. Pineda tests positive for COVID-19


1-PACMAN party-list Representative Eric Pineda on Saturday revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

“For those that I may have had contact the last five days, please take the necessary precautions,” said Pineda in a statement.

Pineda was the eighth member of the House of Representatives who contracted COVID-19, the others being Cavite Representative Luis "Jon-Jon" Ferrer IV, Deputy Speakers Mujiv Hataman and Johnny Pimentel, Bulacan Representative Henry Villarica, Sulu Representative Samier Tan, Northern Samar Representative Paul Daza, and Senior Citizens party-list Representatives Francisco Datol Jr.

Datol subsequently died of acute respiratory distress due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases at the House of Representatives on Saturday reached 64, including 13 active with two new confirmed cases, House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales said.

In a statement, Montales said the first of the two new cases is an employee assigned at the Oversight Committee who last reported for work on September 1 and 2.

The second patient is an Information and Communications Technology Service employee who last reported for work on August 24 and 26. —with a report from Erwin Colcol/DVM/KG, GMA News
