Roque under quarantine after security aide contracted COVID-19

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque decided to go into self-isolation after his security aide contracted COVID-19.

Roque announced the development during his regular press briefing on Monday.

“Nag-positive po ‘yung aking isang security detail. Wala naman po akong sintomas pero we’re following protocol po,” he said.

In a separate statement, Roque said he got tested for COVID-19 last Saturday, which yielded a negative result.

“There is no need for the media who covered me during last Saturday's event to quarantine since my aide who tested positive did not leave the vehicle,” he said, referring to the National Task Force Against COVID-19 visit in Pasay City.

The Palace official also had self-quarantined after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, who was with Roque in a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao on August 10, revealed that he tested positive again for the virus.

Año has since recovered from the disease, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government. —KBK, GMA News
