Up to LGUs to impose videoke ban — Palace
Local government units have the discretion to prohibit late-night videoke sessions in their respective communities, Malacañang said Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the Civil Code of the Philippines allows a nuisance abatement action.
“Ang malakas na pag-videoke po is a form of nuisance or nakakairita at iyong abatement of nuisance po nasa kamay po iyan ng lokal na pamahalaan,” Roque said in a news conference.
Last week, the provincial government of Cavite created a hotline that will cater to the complaints of residents about late-night videoke sessions.
Governor Jonvic Remulla said police vehicles will patrol the province to check if there are individuals who engage in drinking and videoke sessions after 8 p.m.
Those who will not follow the new protocol could be arrested, according to Remulla. —LDF, GMA News
