Newest PAF aircraft ferries PPEs, Cabinet execs to Davao City on inaugural flight

The newest aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Monday ferried personal protective equipment, medical supplies, and government officials to Davao City on its inaugural flight.

The PAF said its new Gulfstream G280 Command and Control aircraft transported several Cabinet officials and members of the government’s inter-agency COVID-19 task force to Davao City, where they monitored the COVID-19 situation in the region.

President Rodrigo Duterte is also currently in Davao City, where he will hold his weekly briefing on the pandemic.

“The C2 aircraft will become part of a system designed for enhanced control of operations through continuous communications especially during operational exigencies and emergencies,” PAF said in a statement.

“It will allow for time-sensitive decisions to be made while airborne especially by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chain of Command,” it added.

The C2 aircraft was formally turned over to the PAF at the Haribon Hangar of the Clark Air Base in Pampanga on Monday morning. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
