BI to file deportation case against suspected suicide bomber

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to file a deportation case against Resky Fantasya Rullie, an Indonesian suspected to be a suicide bomber who was arrested in Sulu over the weekend.

In a statement on Sunday, the BI said Rullie has been the subject of surveillance for months, and was found to have allegedly been planning to conduct a suicide bombing attempt in Sulu before her arrest.

Rullie and two other women—Inda Nhur and Fatima Sandra Jimlani Jama, believed to be wives of ranking Abu Sayyaf Group members—were arrested on Saturday.

A suicide vest, bombs, and other improvised explosive device making components were reported to have been recovered from them.

"They have been brought to the police station for documentation and filing of charges. A deportation case has been recommended to be filed against Rullie for terrorism, being an illegal entrant, and for undesirability, apart from the criminal charges that she faces," said Melody Gonzales, BI Intelligence Mindanao Task Group head.

The BI clarified, however, that Rullie will first have to face the criminal charges filed against her before being deported.

According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Rullie is believed to be pregnant, but volunteered to do the suicide bombing after giving birth, to take revenge for the death of her husband Andi Baso an Indonesian foreign terrorist killed in Sulu in August.

"Ito po si alyas Cici isang foreigner, siya ay sinasabing nagdadalang tao. Siya ay nag-volunteer na magsagawa ng suicide bombing upang ipaghiganti ang pagkamatay ng kanyang asawa," said AFP spokesperson Major General Edgard Arevalo. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
