NDRRMC: Quinta death toll now at 22
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said the death toll due to the effects of Typhoon Quinta in Regions V, VI, VII, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA has increased to 22.
In its situation report, the NDRRMC said the number of injuries also climbed to 39 in the said regions. Four are still missing, it added.
A total of 176,532 families or 775,513 individuals from 2,469 barangays in Regions III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VII and VIII were affected. Of that total number, 2,206 families or 8,649 are being served in evacuation centers.
Eighty-four out of the 235 municipalities that experienced power outage already restored their electricity, the NDRRMC said.
When it comes to damages, the total amount of destroyed infrastructures in Regions III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VIII and Cordillera Administrative Region was at P290,058,990.
These include government and health facilities, places of worship, commercial and private establishments, roads and bridges and schools.
Moreover, a total of 52,689 residences were also damaged by the typhoon.
Concerned agencies already provided aid worth P1,556,044 to the affected families. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
