Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 45.24 million, death toll at 1,183,788

TOKYO - More than 45.24 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,183,788? have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The top five countries with the most number of cases are:

1. United States - 228,885 deaths out of 8,984,432 cases
2. India - 121,090 deaths out of 8,088,851 cases
3. Brazil- 158,969 deaths out of 5,494,376 cases
4. Russia - 27,656 deaths out of 1,599,976 cases
5. France - 36,020 deaths out of 1,282,769 cases

The Philippines has reported a total of 378,933 cases with 330,457 recoveries and 7,185 fatalities as of Friday. -Reuters
