AFP honors fallen soldiers, victims of armed conflict during All Saints' Day

The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Saturday said it is remembering the fallen soldiers who died in the line of duty, as the nation observes All Saints' Day on Sunday, November 1.

"We likewise take this as an opportunity to honor our fallen soldiers who offered their lives in the line of duty," AFP chief General Gilbert Gapay said in a statement.

"Let us also spare a moment to remember the innocent victims of conflict who died in the clutches of the enemies," he added.

Gapay also urged Filipinos to commemorate All Saints' Day or Undas peacefully and safely.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines joins every Filipino in the peaceful and safe commemoration of Undas," he said.

"Though we are not allowed to flock to the final resting places of our loved ones, nothing will prevent us from remembering and praying for them in our homes," Gapay added.

"We urge everyone to respect the temporary closure of these areas and follow social distancing rules until such time that the situation normalizes," he said.

All private and public cemeteries, memorial parks and columbariums nationwide have been ordered closed starting October 29 to November 4 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the Undas season. —KG, GMA News
