Duterte wants probe of quarrying in Albay amid damage caused by Rolly

President Rodrigo Duterte wants an investigation into the alleged quarrying operations in Guinobatan, Albay in the wake of the destruction caused by Typhoon Rolly, according to Senator Bong Go.

"Papa-imbestigahan ng Pangulo ang quarrying sa Guinobatan. Nagreklamo ang mga residente," Go told reporters in a message.

It remains unclear what exactly are the complaints of the residents regarding the alleged quarrying activities.

The President visited Guinobatan and met with its residents after conducting an aerial inspection of the town a day after it was hit by Super Typhoon Rolly.

Aside from Guinobatan, Duterte also had an aerial inspection over Catanduanes, the first province hit by the typhoon.

Following the inspection and meeting with the residents, the President will meet with concerned officials in a situation briefing to talk about the government's response efforts for those affected by the calamity. -NB, GMA News
