NEA: Power restored to 52.27% of households in Rolly-hit regions


The power supply in more than half of Super Typhoon Rolly-affected households in parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas has been restored as of Thursday morning, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) said.

Citing report from its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division (DRRM), NEA said, as of 6 a.m., power has been restored to 52.27% or 1,093,421 households, of the 2,091,796 affected consumers in Bicol Region and parts of CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), and Eastern Visayas covered by 20 electric cooperatives (ECs).

It said that about 998,375 households remain without power.

The majority or 830,981 of households that are still without electricity are in Bicol region—Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, and Sorsogon, the NEA said.

Several transmission lines in Bicol are still unavailable, it noted.

In Masbate, NEA said the Masbate Electric Cooperative Inc. (MASELCO) has fully restored power to all its affected households

Meanwhile, the Ticao Island Electric Cooperative Inc. (TISELCO) has restored power to 86.57%, or 16,061 consumers.

In CALABARZON, power situation in the coverage area of the Quezon II Electric Cooperative Inc. (QUEZELCO II) has returned to normal; while restoration is ongoing in the franchise area of the Quezon I Electric Cooperative Inc. (QUEZELCO I).

In Laguna, the First Laguna Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FLECO) has also fully restored power to all affected consumers.

In Batangas, the Batangas I Electric Cooperative Inc. (BATELEC I) reported 98.83% power restored, while the Batangas II Electric Cooperative Inc. (BATELEC II) has restored 99.37% of power.

In MIMAROPA, the Romblon Electric Cooperative Inc. (ROMELCO) has restored power to 98.92% of households that experienced service interruptions due to the weather disturbance.

The Marinduque Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MARELCO), on the other hand, restored 49.43% of power.

In Eastern Visayas, the Northern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORSAMELCO) reported electricity is 99.92% restored.

The Samar II Electric Cooperative Inc. (SAMELCO II) reported it has energized 100% of affected households.

The NEA also reported that the initial cost of damage to power facilities of typhoon-hit ECs stood at P179.155 million.

It said that electric co-ops in Catanduanes and Camarines Sur suffered the largest damage at P173.755 million combined.

In particular, the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative Inc. (FICELCO) reported an estimated P133.055 million in initial damage.

It was followed by the Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO II) at P18.470 million, Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO III) at P17.600 million, and Camarines Sur I Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO I) at P4.630 million.

The damage to Ticao Island Electric Cooperative Inc. (TISELCO) is pegged at P1.7 million; Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (CANORECO) at P1.277 million; Marinduque Electric Cooperative Inc. (MARELCO) at P1.407 million; Romblon Electric Cooperative Inc. (ROMELCO) at P613,540; and Quezon II Electric Cooperative Inc. (QUEZELCO II) at P403,000.—AOL, GMA News
