Mayor Marcy appeals for construction materials for damaged houses in Marikina

Marikina Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro on Tuesday appealed to donors for housing materials so that families affected by Typhoon Ulysses could rebuild their damaged houses.

Teodoro welcomed construction companies who are volunteering to help residents by building their houses destroyed by the flood.

“Ngayon nakikita na namin ang extent ng damage ng bagyo, we are now requesting for housing materials for those affected and if there will be some volunteers who would like to help, puwede siguro in house rebuilding,” Teodoro said in a press release.

The mayor said a total of 3,880 families are still staying in evacuation centers as their houses are still submerged in thick mud.

"Ang iba naman totally, dahil light materials 'yung kanilang bahay, inanod at nasira, wala na silang bahay na babalikan," he said.

Meanwhile, Teodoro also called on employers to hire residents of Marikina who lost their jobs due to the devastation of the typhoon.

He said the city government is also coordinating with big companies inside and outside the city to provide jobs to affected residents.—AOL, GMA News
